Votive Heart Earrings in Silver

£365.00
Description

Handcrafted votive necklace from silversmith Emily Georgina Jones.

Each Votive heart is a hands-on creation. The making of each one is slow, considered process rooted in traditional artisan techniques with a fine jewellery approach.

The hearts are individually sand cast, shaped and meticulously hand finished, with the loops and bails also being forged by hand.

Subtle variations in texture and shape are intentional, the deliberate fingerprints of making a piece by hand, celebrating the time, care and human intention invested in every heart.

The hearts are worn on simple ‘endless’ hoops. Each heart weights 2 - 2.5g each.

Dimensions: 7 x 8mm.

Solid recycled silver. Each heart is hallmarked in London.

Emily’s work explores the quiet relationship between objects and emotions, resulting in a collection of timeless, understated forms designed for a lifetime of wear.

"Feeling jewellery is incredibly important, I wear everything I make for a while too to make sure the weight or the fit is right before releasing it as a finished product."

HAND-CONSTRUCTED SILVERSMITHING

Hand-construction, or fabrication, is a traditional silversmithing technique where jewellery is built from scratch using raw metal components. Rather than being cast from a mould, each piece is meticulously formed from sterling silver sheet and wire.

Using a rolling mill, piercing saws, and handheld torches, Emily manipulates the metal through a series of heating (annealing) and soldering stages to create complex, hollow or geometric forms.

This method requires a high degree of precision and material knowledge. Because Emily works directly with the silver - melting down reclaimed scraps and rolling them into new forms - the metal retains a unique structural integrity. The result is a collection of understated, lightweight pieces that bear the faint, intentional marks of the tools used to create them, celebrating a process that is entirely guided by the hand.
